On Saturday, August 23, 2025, I’m excited to present at the Social Justice Curriculum Fair – Guided by Love in Washington, D.C. with D.C. Area Educators for Justice! This powerful day of learning, collaboration, and action is designed for educators, curriculum designers, and community leaders committed to building liberatory learning spaces for all students.
This year’s theme, Guided by Love, calls us to center humanity in our pedagogy and to imagine education as a site of resistance, joy, and transformation.

🌟 My Workshop:
Beyond the Bell: Building Justice-Focused Thirdspaces in Schools
Workshop Description:How can extracurricular spaces become incubators for student activism and identity affirmation? This interactive workshop explores how schools can create “thirdspaces”—liberatory environments where historically marginalized youth can build community, engage critical issues, and organize for justice—beyond the classroom. Grounded in research and praxis from the Thirdspace Collective, the session blends theory with hands-on design work. Participants will analyze real-world examples, collaborate to map out justice-focused programs for their own contexts, and leave with tools to co-create spaces that center student voice, cultural responsiveness, and radical possibility.
Whether you’re a classroom teacher, program leader, or youth advocate, this fair offers a unique opportunity to reflect, connect, and co-create justice-centered learning experiences.
✨ Let’s reimagine what’s possible beyond the bell. Hope to see you there!
